Leveraging over 15 years of customized AutoCAD development programming, we at AV Group pride ourselves on delivering precise and consistent system design drawings. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented AutoCAD Technologist to join our team and support our mission of providing top-tier AV systems.
In this role, you will be integral to our design and installation projects, focusing on creating accurate AV system infrastructure, and schematic & detail drawings. You will collaborate with the Design & Engineering team and Project deployment team [consisting of Project Managers, Programmers / Field Engineering and the Installation team] to ensure projects meet our rigorous standards. This is a fulltime/permanent, in-office position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce detailed technical drawings from hand sketches, Bill of Materials and/or Audio-Visual specifications using AutoCAD software.
- Coordinate with Design Engineers and Project Managers to deliver accurate drawings on schedule.
- Utilize AV Group’s Custom AutoCAD tool set for optimal performance.
- Document project requirements and details, ensuring current As-Built documentation is maintained.
- Operate office plotter and printers.
- Operate the laser engraver for custom plate and panel creation (you will receive hands-on training for this equipment).
- Conduct research on AV components to ensure equipment meets design intent for audio, video and control systems.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficient in AutoDesk AutoCAD with strong knowledge of:
- Layer management, freezing, viewport control and object grouping.
- Model space grid use, XREF importing & exporting, and PDF overlays.
- Insert, array, copy/paste, and alignment functions.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and electronic schematics.
- Conversant in AV signal flow and control systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe DC Pro/Revu.
- Professional experience with industry manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, AMX, QSC, Biamp, Shure, Sennheiser, Christie, Barco, Eason, LG, Samsung, and Chief
- Ability to manage multiple projects, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, flexibility in decision-making, and a solid understanding of industry technical and safety standards.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Understanding of architectural, electrical, communications, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to review and report on Bill of Materials and system specifications.
- Experience with system documentation, including detailed drawings and spec sheet markups.
- Knowledge of site survey procedures and AV installation techniques.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in engineering, design, or a related field (e.g., Security, Fire Protection, Communications, Electrical).
- At least three (3) years in CAD design; this can be a combination of a post-secondary program or CAD course plus real-world experience – the latter preferably in the AV industry.

Aligned Vision Group prides itself on providing a seamless support system for our clients. The Field Service Engineer is the front line of this system – client-facing, troubleshooting, problem-solving – and is supported by the full resources, knowledge and experience of the team and the company.
When not working in a Service capacity, this person may contribute to new projects, working internally with Sales, Engineering, Installation and Project Management team members and externally with clients, consultants, and contractors.
This is a fulltime/permanent position, with the majority of the work being onsite at our clients’ facilities or in-office in our FE/Programming lab.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain a complete understanding of all project documentation, objectives, and requirements.
- Provide remote and in-person customer service support, performing service tasks in a timely and quality-conscious manner, including:
- Creating and maintaining service tickets, and producing service reports for clients.
- Testing, diagnosing and repairing AV systems and associated equipment.
- Making user interface, programming, and audio adjustments to AV systems.
- Authoring of complete control system and DSP system configurations.
- Developing custom software solutions as required.
- Coordinating with the client’s IT team to identify all networking requirements.
- Develop system testing protocols and checklists.
- Maintain system documentation including IP schedules and MAC address tables.
- Work with other members of the team to ensure that project closeout documentation has been assembled and delivered as required.
- Stay current with industry trends and changing and emerging technologies in order to provide leading edge system designs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years previous experience in professional audio-visual systems installation, programming and commissioning.
- A thorough understanding of AV system functionality and installation processes and techniques.
- An understanding of digital audio and video formats and transport methods, control system topologies and networking.
- The ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex technical issues.
- The ability to read and comprehend project technical documents including engineering and architectural drawings, schedules, test reports, and commissioning documents.
- Proficiency in:
- The architecture, programming, deployment and troubleshooting of integrated control platforms such as Crestron, Extron and others.
- DSP platforms (QSC, Biamp, BSS).
- Soft conferencing (MS Teams, Zoom) and VC configurations.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote.
- The ability to generate effective business and technical correspondence and documents
- The ability to interact with employees, customers and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Effective time management and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage tasks to meet project objectives.
- A valid driver’s license and maintaining a clean driver’s abstract to drive a company-provided vehicle.
- The ability to pass government and/or police security screenings as may be required in the execution of your duties.
